The CALX Cabin Concrete Countertops
Eureka Springs
2021
The CALX Cabin Concrete Countertops show just how versatile concrete can be. In a kitchen framed by rammed-earth walls and matte black cabinets, these countertops introduced warmth, texture, and a sense of permanence. Cast in our Shale color, the island featured waterfall edges that wrapped gracefully to the floor, grounding the space with substance and style.
Pieces of turquoise inlay punctuated the surface, tying the design back to the natural landscape and adding a touch of artistry unique to Gore Design Co. Every element - color, finish, edge thickness, even the way the material reflects light - was carefully crafted by hand in our Wichita, Kansas studio.
This is what makes concrete different from granite, marble, or quartz: we don’t just fabricate cut stone, we create the material itself. That means complete control - color, aggregate, finish, and form. For the CALX Cabin, that meant building countertops that weren’t just functional, but an organic extension of the architecture itself.
