The Square Ramp Sink
Miami
2005
The Square Ramp Sink is one of our early experiments with geometry in concrete - a basin designed with a raised square pad sloping into a surrounding slot drain, finished with a coin inlay detail. Crafted over 20 years ago, it represents the state of concrete at that time.
Back then, we used a polymer-modified GFRC mix - the same type of mix most artisans are still using today. As you can see in the surface of this sink, entrained air created visible air pockets, which aren’t just cosmetic flaws but also less functional for daily use.
Since then, material science and sealer technology have advanced dramatically in our work. Today, our sinks are crafted with crystalline silica-free UHPC that delivers superior density, strength, and finish. Combined with our completely non-toxic sealer - solvent-free, isocyanate-free, and safe for indoor environments - the result is a smooth, air-pocket-free surface that’s healthier, more durable, and far more functional.
The Square Ramp Sink stands as a snapshot of where we were and a benchmark for how far we’ve come - proof that innovation in both design and materials leads to better, safer, longer-lasting sinks for homes, businesses, hospitals, and universities.
