Handcrafted concrete countertops featuring integral planter design

Studio Concrete Countertops

Tempe

2005

The Studio Concrete Countertops marked an important step in our journey. Crafted for our very first studio space in Tempe, Arizona, these counters became a playground for exploring what concrete could do beyond the ordinary.

We experimented with color, seam layout, and even integral planters, embedding design features directly into the countertop surfaces. Unlike granite or marble, concrete isn’t fabricated - it’s created. That freedom allowed us to test and refine techniques that would later become hallmarks of our work.

These pieces were cast using GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete), a method that let us keep the counters lighter while still incredibly strong. Looking back, the Studio project reminds us how far the craft has come - yet it still shows the timeless honesty of handcrafted concrete.
